Central Square
Working with our partner Wates Construction we have installed a biomass CHP in one of the most prestigious office developments in the North of England , Central Square in the centre of Leeds. Our wood fuelled Arbor Electrogen CHP plant will reside in the basement of the building and will provide the building with nearly 100% of its space heating and hot water requirements. The unit will also deliver a proportion of the building’s electricity demand, all fuelled from low carbon biomass fuel. The plant has been central to the delivery of a highly sustainable BREEAM “outstanding” design, but also offers the operator a low cost heat and power supply in addition to the environmental benefits.
Low Carbon Solution
Biomass fuelled combined heat and power offers the biggest carbon saving of all technologies owing to its ability to generate large volumes of energy from very low carbon intensity fuels year round
Low Cost Heat and Power
The incentives available for Biomass CHP technologies are some of the strongest in the whole renewable energy sector. This means that once all of the fuel and maintenance costs are taken care of the resulting heat and power is available far cheaper than alternative sources.
Innovation Befitting a Flagship Building
The first gasification CHP system installed in a city centre building. Challenging but achievable!
